U.S. crude oil imports decrease, exports increase last week: EIA

HOUSTON, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- U.S. crude oil imports decreased, while exports increased during the week ending Jan. 11, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Wednesday.

According to the Weekly Petroleum Status Report released by EIA on Wednesday, U.S. crude oil imports averaged 7.5 million barrels per day last week, down by 319,000 barrels per day from the previous week, while crude oil exports averaged 3 million barrels per day last week, up by 901,000 barrels per day from the previous week.

Over the past four weeks, U.S. crude oil imports averaged about 7.6 million barrels per day, down by 286,500 barrels from a year ago. U.S. crude oil exports over the past four weeks averaged about 2.6 million barrels per day, up by approximately 1.3 million barrels per day on a year-on-year basis.

U.S. total oil products imports last week averaged 2.4 million barrels per day, up by 310,000 barrels per day from the previous week, while U.S. total oil products exports last week averaged 4.7 million barrels per day, down by 153,000 barrels per day from the previous week.

Over the past four weeks, U.S. total oil products imports averaged about 1.98 million barrels per day, up by 94,500 barrels per day from the same four-week period last year. U.S. total oil products exports over the past four weeks averaged about 5.2 million barrels per day, 140,750 barrels per day more than the same four-week period last year.

In total, the net imports of crude oil and products in the United States during last week was 2.24 million barrels per day, down by 757,000 barrels per day from the previous week.
