XIAMEN, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- A total of 12 cooperative projects on modern agriculture with a combined investment of 2.36 billion yuan (345 million U.S. dollars) have been signed at the Cross-Strait Entrepreneurs Summit in Xiamen, Fujian Province on Wednesday.

The projects involve industries such as flowers, fruit, tea, breeding, processing, and tourism.

The projects can promote comprehensive, wide-ranging and multilevel cooperation on agriculture between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan, further deepen the integration across the Taiwan Strait, said Li Daiyi, deputy head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Fujian.

The total output value of Fujian's 10 competitive agricultural industries such as flowers, tea, fruit, vegetables, and aquatic products, is expected to exceed 1.5 trillion yuan this year, with the cooperation between Fujian and Taiwan playing an important part of it, said Zhou Lianqing, a member of the Standing Committee of CPC Fujian Provincial Committee.

Agriculture in the Chinese mainland and Taiwan complement each other with their respective advantages and characteristics. The cross-Strait cooperation can thrive on the Chinese mainland's huge market and abundant resources, and Taiwan's high level of creativity and quality control, said Xu Fenli from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs' Taiwan affairs office.
