HANOI, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's 15th National Assembly on Wednesday passed the Law on Cybersecurity, which introduces specific regulations to safeguard vulnerable groups in cyberspace, Vietnam News Agency reported.

In addition to children, the law extends protection to older people and people with cognitive difficulties, said the report.

It outlines detailed responsibilities for state agencies, organizations, enterprises and families in preventing harmful content, establishing technical support tools and strictly addressing violations of children's rights online.

The law also incorporates provisions of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime into national legislation, creating a legal basis for information sharing, joint investigations and efforts to combat cross-border cybercrime.

The law will take effect on July 1, 2026. ■
