NAIROBI, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese automotive brand Jetour has launched four new models in the Kenyan market, with Global Motors Center Limited acting as its local distributor.

The event held on Friday evening in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, brought together senior government officials and industry executives to witness the launch of the T1, T2, Dashing, and X70 sport utility vehicle (SUV) models.

Founded in 2018 as a sub-brand of Chinese automotive manufacturer Chery, Jetour focuses on SUVs that blend style, performance, and advanced technology.

Erastus Gatebe, industrialization secretary in Kenya's Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, said Jetour's entry symbolizes deepening cooperation between Kenya and China in the automotive sector.

"The introduction of the new models to Kenyan consumers signifies confidence of foreign investors in the local motor vehicle industry," Gatebe said.

Andy Yuan, assistant president of Jetour International, noted that each vehicle model embodies a balance of advanced engineering, intelligent technology, and affordability, designed specifically to meet the needs of Kenya's growing SUV segment.

He added that Jetour plans to set up a local assembly facility to support Kenya's manufacturing sector, job creation, and skills development.

Farooq Sheikh, managing director of Global Motors Center Limited, said the distributor's investment in aftermarket support will improve the availability of spare parts and enhance the overall driving experience for Jetour vehicle owners.
