CHANGCHUN, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Hongqi, the iconic brand under China's leading automaker FAW Group, has launched a new group of models for overseas markets, including the Hongqi Global SUV and a right-hand-drive version of the E-HS9, as the Chinese marque accelerates its international expansion.

The latest overseas SUV lineup includes Hongqi Offroad, Hongqi Global SUV, the right-hand-drive E-HS9 and the E-HS5, which will be offered in both left- and right-hand-drive versions, FAW said. The rollout gives Hongqi a broader product range across fuel-powered and electric models, while supporting sales in markets with different driving systems.

Founded in 1958, Hongqi has long been associated with China's state celebrations, with its sedans used as official cars at major national events. The brand is also one of China's best-known high-end domestic auto marques.

Giles Taylor, Hongqi's global vice president of design, said the four newly launched models retain the brand's "Eastern luxury" design language while being tailored for regional cultures, user needs and driving habits.

Hongqi plans to deepen its presence in Southeast Asia this year. The brand is set to open an experience store in Singapore and launch the E-HS9 there. It also intends to introduce the E-HS9 in Thailand and begin construction of a factory in Indonesia, according to FAW.

Over the next five years, Hongqi aims to expand into more than 100 countries and regions and operate 1,000 sales and service outlets globally. The company also plans to work with partners across research and development, manufacturing, components, finance and services to build five regional bases covering Southeast Asia, Europe, Latin America and other markets.

Those bases will include localized research centers, process engineering centers, supply-chain hubs and operating centers, with an emphasis on greener and lower-carbon operations, FAW said.
