GUANGZHOU, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- CNOOC and Shell Petrochemicals Company Limited (CSPC) on Wednesday inaugurated a product innovation center in south China's Guangdong Province, marking a significant step in the company's shift toward high-end and innovation-driven production.
Located in the Daya Bay Petrochemical Industrial Park in Huizhou City, the 7,000-square-meter facility is equipped with over 170 sets of advanced equipment for testing and pilot trials.
The center will focus on three frontier fields, including specialty polyether polyols, high-end polyolefins, and differentiated polycarbonate engineering materials. These efforts aim to provide technical support for CSPC's capacity upgrade and new product solutions.
The company also launched three new product brands during the center's inauguration, targeting high-quality demand in sectors such as high-end manufacturing, new energy, and medical and health care.
"The center is designed to respond more efficiently to rapidly changing market demand," said Huang Zhongjin, vice president of CSPC. He noted that the facility will serve as a vital bridge to connect creative ideas with industrial application and break through technical bottlenecks.
Having developed in Huizhou for over 20 years, the company has built a scale advantage with 3.8 million tons of ethylene production capacity, attracting nearly 500 upstream and downstream enterprises to the industrial cluster.
Huizhou, a coastal city in southern China, is home to a cluster of major petrochemicals companies. Within this ecosystem, the Daya Bay Petrochemical Industrial Park has become one of China's leading refining and chemical production centers. ■
