MINSK, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Belarus has been and remains a staunch supporter of intensifying Eurasian integration, Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko said on Thursday.
Belarus has been and remains a staunch supporter of deepening Eurasian integration and building an effectively working common economic space on the basis of trust and mutual understanding, Lukashenko said at a meeting on preparations for the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council session and the Eurasian Economic Forum that will take place in Minsk on June 26-27.
The head of state noted that there is much to discuss in the Eurasian Economic Union, but no one needs meetings for the sake of meetings.
The Eurasian Economic Commission submitted as many as 700 pages of materials, Lukashenko said. The Belarusian side wants to see practical benefits from the documents adopted in all avenues: industrial cooperation, transport policy, financial market, international positioning and foreign trade, the development of social dimension of integration, he added.
Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov said more than 2,000 participants from 29 countries have registered for the event. ■
