HARARE, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the detonation of a bomb targeting Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa which resulted in the death of two people and injury of 47 others, according to police Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga.

The state-controlled Herald newspaper reported Wednesday that Matanga told senior police officers in Bulawayo that the police would never rest until the culprits were accounted for.

"We will do whatever it takes within the precincts of the law to ensure that this objective is met. At the risk of over-emphasizing, I wish to reiterate that no stone will be left unturned," he said.

The bomb exploded a few meters away from Mnangagwa as he and his entourage left the podium at White City Stadium in Bulawayo after a campaign rally.

Mnangagwa was not hurt, but two security aides who were among the injured succumbed to their wounds a few days later.

Vice President Kembo Mohadi and Minister of Environment, Water and Climate Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri were also injured.

Mnangagwa is on a campaign trail to drum up support ahead of general elections slated for July 30.?
