ABUJA, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Four people were confirmed killed following a suicide attack by suspected Boko Haram members in Nigeria's northeastern town of Konduga, local police said on Monday.

Seven others were wounded in the blast late Sunday, said Damian Chukwu, police chief in the northern state of Borno.

Chukwu told reporters that the bombers had sneaked into Mashimari village, in Konduga area, near an internally displaced persons' camp, to carry out the attack.

Konduga, with a population of over 13,000, has witnessed frequent Boko Haram attacks. Its inhabitants are mostly engaged in subsistence farming.

In February, at least 22 people were killed and 28 others injured in multiple suicide blasts orchestrated by Boko Haram rebels at a local fish market in Konduga.

Boko Haram has been blamed for the death of more than 20,000 people and displacement of 2.3 million others in Nigeria since 2009.
